Project Surf Camp (PSC) is a charitable organization designed to educate individuals with special needs. Our mission is to build self confidence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. We further provide opportunities to build social skills, improve physical fitness, develop healthy outlets for stress reduction, and foster independence. Outcomes are achieved through the modality of surf, paddle board instruction and/or beach and aquatic activities.
Our camps are split into half day sessions of 4-hours. Our focus is on specialist intervention. As a result, camp participants will also receive consultation, feedback, and support from four paid specialists.
Location
Camps will be held at Morro Rock Beach near the Morro Creek outlet. Plan to gather first at Coleman Park on the Embarcadero (along the Harbor Walk, south-east of Morro Rock) and we’ll caravan to Morro Rock Beach together. Please arrive as promptly to the scheduled start time as possible. Wetsuit sizing along with needs assessments are conducted first thing.
Special thanks to Morro Bay Parks and Recreation for hosting this beautiful location.
Camp Fees
PSC is $75 per participant per camp. PSC encourage siblings and family members to participate as well. The sibling/additional family member fee is $75. Participants may sign-up for one (1) or more days.
Camper fees are kept minimal with only one quarter of our total annual budget generated from actual participant enrollment. The remainder of the budget is funded through private solicitations, grants, and fundraisers and camp sponsorships. Learn more about Donating to Project Surf Camp.
Our Camp Specialists
Our specialists use care in creatively encouraging each individual camper outside his/her comfort zone. We see them reach beyond their fears and into the FUN of surfing and beach activities. We encourage the whole family to join in the fun! This is a great family activity that everyone will remember for years to come!
We have the most experience team of surf specialists in the country, backed by 6 masters degrees focused in special education and recreation. Specialist intervention leads surfers to foster a greater independence, communication and social skills.
